Not the traditional Italian tiramisu that screams coffee! This Dessert is neapolitan (having chocolate, vanilla and strawberry flavours) and is light and airy, super creamy yet fresh and tart from the strawberries and is not too sweet.
A perfect light dessert that pleases everyone alike!
Chocolate Vanilla Strawberry Tiramisu
2 cups whipping cream
1 tbsp cocoa powder
8 tbsp powdered sugar
5 oz (1/2 cup) semisweet chocolate melted in the microwave/ double boiler
500gm Mascarpone cheese (room temperature)
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup whipping cream – whipped to stiff peaks
1 and 1/4 cup strong coffee
1 tbsp sugar
7oz (24 cookies) Savoiardi ladyfinger biscuits
2 tubs of Fresh strawberries sliced
6 pieces of Dark fantasy chocolate biscuits broken into pieces(optional)
For the Whipped Cream
In a large bowl, add 2 cups of whipping cream, 1 tsp vanilla and 3 tbsp powdered sugar and whisk until soft peaks form. Use an electric whisk for this.
For the Chocolate Mascarpone Layer
In a large bowl, add the mascarpone cheese and using a whisk, beat lightly for it to be soft, light and creamy. Add the cooled, melted chocolate to this, 1 tbsp coffee, 1 tsp vanilla and 5 tbsp powdered sugar. When its all incorporated and creamy, toss the 1 cup whipped cream to this and using a spatula fold it gently so that you don’t knock out the air from the cream.
Lady finger layer
In a wide and shallow bowl, pour coffee, 1 tbsp cocoa powder and 1 tbsp sugar and mix well. Keep the biscuits ready on the side.
In a large trifle dish, layer the bottom layer with the savoiardi by soaking the biscuits on both sides and placing them in one layer at the bottom of the dish.
Top with a thick layer of chocolate mascarpone that is evenly spread followed by a layer of vanilla whipped cream.
Now insert thinly sliced strawberries on the sides and center of the whipped cream.
Repeat the layers with the biscuits, then chocolate cream and then vanilla cream and a generous layering of strawberries.
You can also break and sprinkle some of the chocolate biscuits for added texture.
Decorate the top with some more sliced strawberries, a light dusting of cocoa powder and some crushed biscuits or shaved chocolate curls.
Refrigerate for a few hours (minimum 4 hours) or overnight and then serve!
